Prunus Cerasus

Prunus Cerasus is a collection of poems that unearth the sour pit from the sweet flesh of the women of Twin Peaks. Taking inspiration from the motif of food within Frost and Lynch’s creation, these poems examine the significance of images of sweetness and indulgence juxtaposed against the horror unfolding in the town and within the female characters of the show – some of which is explored within the narrative, some only implied.

These poems highlight the tenuous nature of femininity; the knife edge of wholesome cherry pie goodness feasted upon by a grumble of maggots.

Fang’s luscious boxset of poems entice the reader back into the sweet, dark soul of Twin Peaks... Playful, sexy, heartbreakingly beautiful and magnificently weird.
— Barbara Barnes
Prunus Cerasus is a body of work that hopscotches brilliantly between the dreamscapes of the real and the unreal... Fang explores the depths and experience of womanhood that raises many questions, that leaves gaps begging us to take another ominous step inside the gingerbread house.
— Stuart McPherson
“Like a giant exploding meringue which covers a very expensive hotel room in a delicious stickiness, Prunus Cerasus is sensual, silly, serious, salacious and very knowing. The poems will resonate not only with fans of Twin Peaks, but with anyone looking for a fresh voice that’s full of playfulness and of course, a lot of cherry pie. A damn fine cup of poetry.”
— Craig Jordan-Baker
“What a grand collection! I truly enjoyed these poems –
they took me to another place, both wonderful and strange.”

Prunus Cerasus reads like a kind of brief tasting menu of fragrances from the
perfume counter at Horne’s Department Store, vivid moments,
recognisable yet unexpected, there and then ‘gone... like a turkey
in the corn.’ ”
